The distance between the coffee
plantations on the slopes of the mountain with a peasant's house is
approximately 2 hours by foot. Therefore, the farmers usually often
stay on the farm, especially during harvest. State Electricity
Company has not been able to reach the Karang Tengah village. Even so, the
villagers can harness the river flow to be converted into
electric power.
Farmers do not have enough capital to
buy fertilizer and
pesticides. Even so, the coffee plants can grow
fast and produce high-
quality coffee beans. They usually harvest
once a year in May or
sooner if the rainy season lasts longer. In
the treatment, the farmers
just do simple things like weeding the
grass out which grow under
coffee plants and cut the young branches
when the coffee is almost
close to harvest time. So, the costs of
coffee cultivation can be reduced
and the maximum benefit can be
obtained because they sell in the
form of dried coffee beans. In the
coffee harvest, they will stay on the
farm to keep the beans while
being dried.
